The Rivers State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted a statement that criticized the nomination of Chief Nyesom Wike, the governor of the state for a ministerial position. Darlington Nwauju, the partys spokesperson, in the state issued a statement in Port Harcourt on Thursday to counter a statement made in Abuja. The party now clarifies that Wikes affiliation, with APC is driven by his interests.
Nwauju mentioned that he did not release the statement from Abuja clarifying that he was unaware of it and did not approve it.
According to him certain individuals prepared the statement without his knowledge, for their reasons. He emphasized that he does not have any agenda regarding the nomination and screening of Wike for a position.
He expressed, "I have been made aware of a fabricated statement attributed to my office which was allegedly issued today in Abuja."
Upon examination of the said statement one can observe that it was not originally endorsed with my name, office details or date.
Let me restate that the matter concerning Rivers State APC and Nyesom Wikes nomination, as a minister is neither personal nor an all or nothing situation.
It is disheartening for anyone or any group to impersonate my office and pursue vendettas.
